Hurricane Sandy Relief Proposal

Just 21 percent of the total $60.4B, will be directed to Hurricane Sandy response and recovery. The rest is going to fund unrelated projects such as:

Roughly $28 billion of the request is marked for future disaster-mitigation projects on the East Coast, including $3.2 million for erosion control projects and $15 billion for Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grants;

$3 billion for federal departments and agencies to repair or replace federal assets, including $2 million for roof repairs at the Smithsonian;

$200 million for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to be used freely at the discretion of the Secretary;

$6 million to purchase food for food banks, a need that could be better met by local companies and the nonprofit sector.

The "Fiscal Cliff" ?

Over a year ago the Republican leadership caved on a debt-ceiling increase. Democrats got an immediate debt-ceiling increase and Republicans got a promise of spending cuts to be determined by a super-committee. When the bi-partisan group did nothing to cut spending, then automatic spending cuts will happen 1 January.

The Republican leaders - who happen to like big government - were conned again. Even Reagan in the 1980s agreed to amnesty in return for tougher immigration reform. The legislation was passed, but the Democrats had no intention of paying for enforcement.

Obviously sequestration was acceptable to the Republicans and the Democrats because that is what they agreed to over a year ago! At this point the Republicans should let the tax cuts die and across-the-board cuts take place. They have already compromised to get to this point. Admit that last year's deal was bad for America. There should be no other concessions.

2010 Federal Tax Rates by Income

According to 2010 data from the IRS:

people who make $1 million or more had an average tax rate of 20.4 percent;

those who made between $50,000 and $100,000 paid 7.7 percent;

those who earned $30,000 to $50,000 paid an average rate of 4.8 percent;

those making under $30,000 had a negative effective rate, meaning they paid no federal income taxes after deductions and credits.

Put another way, millionaires pay a rate that’s more than four times that of the middle class.

Faux News - Military Votes Lost!

The following is False per Snopes.com:

Sources confirmed today that hundreds of thousands of military absentee ballots were delivered hours after the deadline for them to be counted, with preliminary counts showing that they would have overturned the vote in several states and brought a victory for Governor Mitt Romney.

Officials say the ballots were delivered late due to problems within the military mail system. Tracking invoices show the ballots sat in a warehouse for a month, then they were accidentally labeled as ammunition and shipped to Afghanistan.

The "Crisis" of Global Climate Change?

Some Americans seem to be falling for the “crisis” of “climate change.” This is yet another “crisis” created by politicians in D.C. to increase the take and power of government. It is based on junk science. Cap and trade legislation failed in 2010, but it is a monster which will not die!

Hurricane Sandy is being blamed on climate change. Hurricanes Dennis, Emily, Katrina, Rita and Wilma in 2005 were also blamed on “global warming.” The problem with this is that more hurricanes would occur every year – otherwise it is just the normal weather cycle. In 2006 and following years there was very light tropical storm activity – especially storms affecting the United States.

Note that the scientists – who depend on politicians for their income – have changed the problem from “global warming” to “global climate change”, since the planet has been cooling for the last decade. In 1975 the Newsweek cover story was “The Coming Ice Age!”

The “worst” greenhouse gas is water vapor. The Sun shines on seas heating the water and causing evaporation. The water vapor forms clouds and eventually falls to Earth as rain. This is the Water Cycle that we studied in Physical Science.

Politicians ignore water vapor because they cannot tax the Sun. Carbon dioxide is blamed instead. It has been claimed that CO2 is produced by man (and woman). This is true. We exhale CO2, plants “breathe” it in and give off O2 which is necessary for human and animal life. Humans also release CO2 every time we open a carbonated beverage. A knee-jerk reaction would be a tax on people for exhaling and on carbonated beverages. Coke and Pepsi might object!

Scientists can be good or bad. They can have no integrity. If I am a climatologist, then I will seek grants to study climate change. If I am morally bankrupt, then I will “prove” the premise of the grant. I may exagerate the true effects of climate change: a sea-level rise of 20 feet instead of the expected 7 inches/century!

The United States did not sign the Kyoto (or Copenhagen) treaty because BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) nations and other “developing nations” were not made responsible for climate controls or subsequent costs. This gave them a significant economic advantage over those who had to bear the costs. President Clinton did not send the treaty to the Republican-controlled Senate. President Obama will again agree to climate control through the United Nations and send the treaty to the Democrat-controlled Senate for ratification. American sovereignty will be transferred to bureaucrats at the U.N. by treaty!

"Terrorists" Help Obama Election

Contributions were made using the name Osama bin Laden, listing his occupation as "deceased terrorist" and employer as "al-Qaida." The contributions were accepted by the Team Obama, just as it accepted foreign contributions from the Palestinian Authority in 2008!

My Vietnam-era Veteran Days

When I graduated from college in 1967, career choices were limited to Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard. I originally applied for the Navy, but my eyesight prevented me from being a line officer – although I could be a supply officer. I decided to go across the hall and sign up with the Air Force. That was the fall of 1966. I had a reporting date of 22 Aug 67. I had a great summer playing golf 7 days/week from dawn until dark.

At Fort Jackson, SC we were inspected and processed. I flew that night to San Antonio, TX where we were bused to Lackland AFB. We inprocessed all night, got our uniforms, our haircuts, our rooms and had briefings all day. We got to bed about 2300.

I graduated from Officer Training School on 17 Nov 67. Mom and Dad pinned my 2nd Lt bars on – engraved MOM and POP. My next assignment was graduate school, so I was a “pipeline student” awaiting the opening of school in January 1968. I lived in the Visiting Officers Quarters and had to call at 0800 and 1300 for duties of the day. There were none, so I played golf on the nearby base course.

I cut this grueling routine short to be my baby brother's best man.

I drove to Columbia, MO in January 1968. It was raining, but this turned to freezing rain, sleet and then snow as I went north. I finally stopped at Scott AFB in Illinois for the night.

One of the great things about the military is the sponsor program. Mine was 1st Lt Chester D. (Chet) Smith. We had written each other beforehand and, I contacted him as soon as I arrived. We became good friends. Chet renamed me Chuck.

I graduated – just barely – with a M.S. degree in August 1969. I was distracted for the entire 18 months by the abundance of beautiful, sweet young ladies at the University, Stephens and Christian Colleges. I had an apartment on Stephens College.

My next assignment was in Space Systems at the NORAD complex inside Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs, CO. I was there for 3 ½ years. I married Patty Rhoads on 17 Mar 72. We moved into a new house on Enchanted Circle North, and I got orders for Australia. The location was classified, but Chip can figure it out since he was born there on 5 Oct 1973. Mister (surgeon) Robertson delivered him. I had 6 weeks of training in Denver before leaving the states. The high temperature was minus 11 during a two week period. That prepared us well for Hawaii, American Samoa (refueling), Christchurch, N.Z., Sydney (Richmond AB) and finally 118 degrees on 24 Dec 72 in Woomera all by C-141.

Lots of babies were born during the 2 years in Australia. The rumor is that it was caused by drinking Harvey Wallbangers while listening to Neil Diamond's Hot August Night!

We left in December 1974 for Niceville, FL and Eglin AFB. I became a Senior Director at the phased-array radar 20 miles to the east. Tracy was born at Eglin AFB on 28 May 75. Capt Collier delivered her.

I left family and friends in June 1976 for a remote assignment at the top of the world in Thule, Greenland. I was Senior Director for the BMEWS site. Most work on the Air Base and surrounding roads was done by Danes trying to escape the onerous taxes in Denmark. I fell in love with ABBA's music during my year there because most of our entertainment copied this #1 group at the time.

I returned to Niceville and Eglin AFB in June 1977. Marty Glasser and I were the only people eligible for Master of Space Defense. I had Expert ranking in satellite-based, tracking and fan and phased-array detection systems. The 300-question test would have been easy since I had written most of the questions as Chief of Training at Woomera, Eglin and Thule. I did want the trip to Colorado Springs for CINCNORAD to present the award, but I would exit the military in January 1979.

Four States Elected Obama

Four states (FL, OH, VA and WA) won the election for Barack Obama. The total electoral votes in these states is 72. If all four had gone to Romney instead of Obama then the totals would be 278 to 260 with Romney winning instead of 332 to 206 with Obama winning. The difference in these four states was Gary Johnson, Libertarian, and to a lesser extent Jill Stein, Green Party.

Libertarians are fiscally conservative but socially liberal. The Greens are against anything which would damage the environment. I assume that they are for alternative energy.

If you add Johnson's votes to Romney in each state, then Romney wins the Presidency. To be fair, if Stein's votes are given to Obama, then Romney only wins VA and WA and Obama is re-elected.

I think this is a good idea. I stated this in a letter to the editor on 6 November 2008. Obama will destroy the United States. Those states like MA, NY, IL, NV and CA which have followed a similar course as Obama are bankrupt. Since all voted for Obama, he will surely take from the "red states" and "invest" in these "blue states" which practice a progressive socialism. The federal taxpayer funds will be to pay for "teachers, firefighters, police and infrastructure." That will free up other state funds to pay for abortions and other sins at taxpayer expense. They can name the bill "America and Apple Pie Act." Who would vote against that?

Post-Election Economy - Prof. Peter Morici

On Friday the Labor Department is expected to report the economy added 125,000 jobs in October and unemployment increased to 7.9 percent.

Hurricane Sandy should little affect these estimates as employer and household surveys were conducted earlier in October. Going forward, the hurricane will depress employment but only until the rebuilding begins in earnest. Rebuilding will raise employment and incomes later in 2013, but not enough to substantially alter the national economic picture.

If President Obama is reelected and delivers on campaign promises, the jobs picture will worsen.

The Long-Term Trend

Since peaking at 10 percent in October 2009, the jobless rate has fallen mostly because 6 million adults have chosen not to look for work. But for this phenomenon, the unemployment rate would still be 9.7 percent. More than 8 million part-time workers would like full-time work but can't find it. Adding in those folks, the unemployment rate is 14.7 percent.

In 2007, the last year before the financial collapse, the deficit was $161 billion with the Bush tax cuts in place, wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and Medicare prescription.

Over the last four years, the deficit has averaged $1.3 trillion. Additional tax cuts, such as the $95 billion payroll tax holiday, subsidies for green energy and electric cars, and social and regulatory programs, promoted by President Obama, caused this red ink.

Even with huge stimulus, convincing millions they don't want a job and compelling desperate workers to settle for part-time work has been the Obama Administration's most effective jobs program.

Though Congress may avoid sequestration, some temporary tax cuts, such as reduced Social Security taxes and elements of the Bush tax cuts benefiting high income families, will likely lapse and some combination of savings in entitlements and defense spending will be accomplished. Overall, these would lower the deficit in the range of $300 billion.

If reelected, President Obama promises additional stimulus—aid to state budgets under the guise of teacher retention, infrastructure projects and more subsidies for alternative energy projects.

Another Recession?

When the dust settles, the deficit should be unchanged. However, the tax increases will come quickly but the additional spending will arrive with considerable lag. As take home pay is slashed and consumer spending slows, the economy easily could be thrown into a second, deep recession—double-digit unemployment by any measure. Already, the sales of S&P 500 companies, which account for about 80 percent of publically traded enterprises, are flat, and business investment fell in the third quarter. Sustaining profits will require layoffs.

By mid 2013, the economy may well be in a recession from which it cannot easily be resurrected—a depression—caused by fundamental problems not addressed by President Obama. The growing trade deficits on oil and with China have been a huge drain on domestic demand, and those kill nearly 10 million jobs.

The Romney Alternative

If elected, Governor Romney promises to tackle China's undervalued currency and other mercantilist policies that run up the U.S. deficit with the Middle Kingdom, and open up more offshore and Alaskan oil reserves for development. Those polices would quickly boost demand and get the economy back on track.

Longer term, Romney policies to lower the trade deficit would substantially increase R&D spending—enough to permanently boost U.S. growth by several percentage points. An economy growing at 4 or 5 percent a year, instead of its current 2 percent, would have far more resources to address issues like health care, the solvency of Social Security, an adequate national defense, and space exploration.

The choice this election is simple—more of the same, high unemployment and perhaps a permanent recession, or a new course that gets the economy growing more rapidly again.

U.N. Levies (Taxes) Through Treaty

Only the President and the Senate need to approve. The people's Representatives will not have a vote!

A “Robin Hood” tax on financial transactions. Every time you buy or sell a stock or bond or exchange money while traveling, you'd be hit with a financial transactions tax, a percentage of your transaction, that would go to the U.N.

A global tobacco tax with the funds to flow to the World Health Organization (WHO).

A U.N.-imposed tax on billionaires all over the world. And don't delude yourself for a moment that it is only the 1,600 current billionaires who will be hit. Once the precedent of a U.N. tax on U.S. citizens is approved, it will gradually grow downwards to cover more and more Americans. Again, the funds will go to the U.N.

Under the Law of the Sea Treaty, up for Senate ratification in December of the lame-duck session, offshore oil-and-gas wells would have to pay a proportion of their revenues to the International Seabed Authority, a U.N.-sponsored organization, which would distribute the loot to the Third World.

A carbon tax on all U.S. or other foreign commercial or passenger aircraft flying to Europe. Nominally to fight climate change, these revenues would also go to the Third World.

A mandatory assessment to be imposed on the U.S. to compensate Third World nations for the costs of reducing their carbon output.

And where would the money go? To so-called less-developed countries. The taxes are part of a global plan of redistribution of wealth from the Northern Hemisphere (the U.S., Europe and Japan) to the Southern Hemisphere (Latin America, Africa and South Asia).

Romney Likes Big Bird!

One must listen carefully to the spin that the media places on an idea. The question of whether the federal government has a right to fund public broadcasting (PB) is such an idea.

Certainly there is no enumerated right in the Constitution giving the federal government the right to create and fund public broadcasting. Just as the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the Energy Information Administration (EIA) are indirect employees of the PotUS, they are employees of his Secretary of Commerce and Secretary of Energy respectively. The career civil servants in PB, BLS and EIA depend on political appointees of the President for advancement. It is tempting for the party in power to ensure that the messages and statistics are presented with as much positive spin as possible – or simply faked if close to an election. The decrease in unemployment from 8.1% to 7.8% is a case in point. Only 114,000 jobs were created. This is anemic. Only a dramatic increase in self-employed decreased the U-4 rate. September is also the month for dramatic changes in school-related employment. The 7.8% number was prominent in the BLS report. Arithmetic was necessary to clarify the reasons.

Candidates are reluctant to talk about specific cuts which they would make if elected. Gov. Romney gave a specific example in the first debate. He said that he would not fund PB if it meant having to borrow money from China. The media attacked him for wanting to “kill” Big Bird. Gov. Romney stated that the liked Jim Lehrer, the debate moderator, and Big Bird, but there was a principle (Law) which overruled emotions. By contrast, President Obama has shown obvious disdain for the Law.

114,000 New Jobs; Unemployment to 7.8%

The entire drop in the unemployment rate can be attributed to a surprise rise of 582,000 in part-time workers. U-6 unemployment remained at 14.7%. U-6 includes part-time workers who want a full-time job.

The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) was little changed at 4.8 million and accounted for 40.1 percent of the unemployed. After 26 weeks unemployment compensation must be paid by taxpayers. The Obama administration has raised the limit to 99 weeks. Many go on Social Security Disability after the 99 weeks further weakening Social Security's future solvency.

Progressive-socialism v Freemarket Capitalism

“The United States and other industrialized nations have experienced an employment shift away from the goods-producing sector and toward the service-providing sector in recent decades.” This is from the Bureau of Labor Statistics within the Department of Commerce. I wonder how much money it cost us for them to gather this data. I ask because I read Future Shock by Alvin Toffler in the early 1970s. He stated 42 years ago that the industrial age was waning just as the agricultural age had over a century before. It is a fact that as efforts mature, advances are implemented which increase productivity but decrease the need for manual labor. For agriculture it was the tractor replacing the team-driven plow. For industries it was first steam and then electrical or diesel engines. Now it is computers, robotics and the global economy. Productivity is higher; quality is better; workers are safer.

Ignorant people – who don't read folks like Toffler – claim that they are being forced out of business by “un-fair” competition. Freemarketers claim that competition makes the market more efficient. Progressive-socialists claim it is a wrong to be righted by total government control. They want to make everyone equally inefficient. Rather than equality of opportunity, they want equality of results.

Tax Reform in America?

Mike Huckabee backed the Fair Tax. Herman Cain backed 9-9-9. Tax reform has taken a back seat to other issues with Obama and Romney – although Romney has called for lower rates funded by fewer deductions.

The tax code has tens of thousands of pages because our government is corrupt, and the tax code is the weapon of choice. Votes can be bought and lucrative favors and post-government employment obtained with the “loopholes” in the tax code. The problem with getting rid of loopholes is the loophole which purchased your vote is precious to you. You may own your home because you want a deduction for the mortgage interest that you pay. It doesn't matter to you that renters must subsidize you and the real estate industry. Is that “fair”? Those generous folks who give to charities get a deduction. It doesn't matter that donors to non-profits who hate America get the same deduction.

If the Politburo – those with governmental power – simply removes some loopholes, then we have a flatter tax. We still have an Internal Revenue Service – expanded to tax those who refuse to accept PPACA. We still have a huge tax code. We still tax income.

Except for a few, we try to minimize the amount of tax that we pay. To do that we must minimize our taxable income. Do we really want to do that?

Instead of taxing income why not tax consumption? Then you decide where and when to pay taxes. The Fair Tax ensures that those “poor” and elderly who have incomes below the poverty line will pay NO tax. Those currently outside the tax system – drug dealers, prostitutes, black marketeers, etc – will pay a tax every time they purchase new things. The “rich” will still pay more than anyone else assuming that they continue to spend. Consumption taxes encourage frugality, so that $100,000 car or that $1 million third home on the beach or in the mountains doesn't look as good with a sales tax added. I seriously doubt that Warren [Buffet] and Bill [Gates] will radically change their lifestyle!

Taxes are too high. The income tax and fiat money have allowed the federal government to expand. It is almost impossible to cut spending – even at the edge of the fiscal cliff. Radical surgery will be required to fix the problems, but Romney is correct: the takers will not vote for it. The sheeple – those who believe what politicians say – think that the status quo can be permanent! Ignorance is bliss!

QE is an Illegal Tax

The federal government raises revenue three ways:

1) Direct taxation

2) Borrowing (selling Treasury Notes)- a deferred tax

3) Printing Federal Reserve Notes - a hidden tax.

If the Federal Reserve prints more notes than necessary, it devalues the currency. This is a tax on all who hold the currency. It is a regressive tax because it hurts the poor and the elderly on fixed incomes the most. By law all taxation legislation must begin in the House of Representatives. What the Fed is doing is illegal!

With a gold standard, it is difficult to devalue the currency. To print more "money" you must have more gold to back it. This is why Progressives created the central bank - and the income tax on the "rich" - and removed the gold standard.

QE and the Government Debt Bubble

The Fedspeak term is “quantitative easing” or “QE”, but it is simply printing more money than necessary and using it to buy Treasury debt. This has kept interest rates artificially low – for the present.

Wall Street likes QE because stock prices rise with more dollars chasing the same number of stocks. Even though no value has been added, the “sheeple” think that stocks must have more value since the prices have gone up. Sheep are not very intelligent. Sheeple are people who believe the brokers who mislead them. Wall Street makes money by charging fees and by stock manipulation. When the stock price has risen substantially, they sell short.

Realizing that the currency is being devalued, financial experts are buying assets. Gold and silver are favorites. Silver has gone up about 23% in the last 2 months. This should not be annualized since the rate will rise exponentially instead of linearly once sheeple lose faith in the currency. Until then, the ads for buying gold or silver will increase in number. The experts have already bought theirs. They will sell to the sheeple now that the price has gone up.

During the inflation of the housing bubble – helped by artificially low interest rates from the Fed, sheeple went deeply in debt to buy the biggest house possible since “housing prices never decrease, so houses are the best investment.” When they needed money for stuff, they got a line of credit on the home's equity. When the bubble burst, they could not afford the mortgage payments and taxes. Consumer spending decreased because the lines of credit – a personal ATM machine – disappeared. Since 2/3s of GDP is consumer spending, businesses cut back purchases and jobs. Those now unemployed could not afford their debt. A vicious cycle became more vicious.

The Fed's QEs continue to inflate the government debt bubble. Experts have downgraded United States debt and included a negative warning. The longer that the bubble inflates, the bigger will be the “pop” when it bursts. Since the government borrows 40% of what it spends, it will have 2 main options: cut spending by 40% or continue to devalue the currency. In the early 1990s Mexico made the “old peso” invalid and exchanged 1 “new peso” for 1,000 old pesos. What will happen to elderly Americans who saved a lifetime to have $1,000,000 for retirement when it becomes only $1,000 for retirement in an economy with substantially higher prices?

Heritage on the Number of Jobs Created

Under President Obama, the U.S. economy has created a net 415,000 private-sector jobs—less than 0.2 percent of the 155 million-member American workforce. But even that statistic does not tell the full story, since the workforce itself has shrunk dramatically in size since Obama took office. Labor force participation is at 63.5 percent, its lowest level since 1981. In other words, a large chunk of Americans have simply given up looking for work. A significant number are collecting disability insurance instead.

Note: This is after 99 weeks on unemployment. Why work?

It Was Worse Than We Thought!

The economy has not fully recovered because the Democrats misjudged how bad things were when they took office. Bill Clinton said, "No president—not me or any of my predecessors—no one could have fully repaired all the damage in just four years." The Democrats held the Presidency, the Senate and the House of Representatives in January 2009. Republicans only took back the House in January 2011. The Democrats passed a stimulus bill in 2009 of $800 Billion promising a recovery which would keep unemployment less than 8%. In the spring of 2010, they passed one of the largest entitlement programs in history with PPACA (Obamacare). In 2010 they passed Dodd-Frank (named for the two most responsible for the bad legislation which caused the problem). The size of government and its regulations increased dramatically. Businesses are still reluctant to hire.

From the day Obama took office (January 20, 2009) to today, the national debt rose from $10.627 trillion to $16.016 trillion—an increase of $5.389 trillion. Unemployment has remained above 8% for Obama's term. If spending more than you take in causes the economy to recover, then where is the recovery? Only 96,000 jobs were created in August, but 368,000 gave up looking for work. The “unemployment rate” went down to 8.1% because fewer people are working. Is this progress? If massive wealth transfer is the goal, then I guess that it is progress!

The Federal Reserve has been printing an excess of money in order to buy Treasury Notes. This has temporarily kept interest rates low and allowed the government to operate on borrowed money. Printing more money than necessary causes inflation. We saw the first signs this summer as gold, silver and other commodities started to rise rapidly in price. Silver has risen about 23% since July. Americans are myopic. They will say that gas prices are rising; food prices are rising; rent prices are rising;car prices are rising;etc. It can't be that the dollar that we are using to pay for these things has been intentionally devalued by our government! It must be greedy oil companies, greedy food stores, greedy landlords, greedy corporations, etc. Maybe the financial experts know something about the money supply!

Environmentalists Costing Taxpayers

A constant stream of lawsuits filed by environmental groups ostensibly to protect endangered species have cost taxpayers $15 million in lawyer fees from nearly 600 court actions in the last four years.

“It’s become a cottage industry,” said Rob Gordon, senior advisor for strategic outreach with the Heritage Foundation. “Those trying to compel the government to add some critter to the federal endangered list are often the green equivalent of slip and fall lawyers. It can be a lucrative business.”

Voter Registration a Travesty of Justice

According to research conducted by the Center for the States of the non-partisan Pew Charitable Trusts (Pew) inaccurate voter registrations are rampant. Pew's independent research published in February 2012 indicates that approximately 24 million active voter registrations throughout the United States -- or one out of every eight registrations -- are either no longer valid or are significantly inaccurate.

The Secretaries of State in each state and the United States Attorney General Eric Holder are making voter fraud easy!

Barack Hussein Obama is an eloquently tailored empty suit. No resume, no accomplishments, no experience, no original ideas, no understanding of how the economy works, no understanding of how the world works, no balls, nothing but abstract, empty rhetoric devoid of real substance.

He has no real identity. He is half-white, which he rejects. The rest of him is mostly Arab, which he hides but is disclosed by his non-African Arabic surname and his Arabic first and middle names as a way to triply proclaim his Arabic parentage to people in Kenya . Only a small part of him is African Black from his Luo grandmother, which he pretends he is exclusively.

What he isn't, not a genetic drop of, is 'African-American,' the descendant of enslaved Africans brought to America chained in slave ships. He hasn't a single ancestor who was a slave. Instead, his Arab ancestors were slave owners. Slave-trading was the main Arab business in East Africa for centuries until the British ended it.

Let that sink in: Obama is not the descendant of slaves, he is the descendant of slave owners.

America's Financial Demise

It is not gas and food and many other items which are increasing in price, it is the dollar that we use to pay for these that is decreasing in value. Although the Treasury and the Federal Reserve claim that they are working to keep the dollar strong, there is a strong incentive to devalue the dollar because of our debt. The facts show that the dollar has indeed been devalued.

Federal Reserve Notes once said “redeemable in lawful money.” During the FDR administration, gold was confiscated by the government. There has been no silver content in United States coinage since 1965. U.S. gold was no longer sold to other nations after 1971. As of February 2011, it costs about 2.4 cents to mint a penny.

The printing of dollars is necessary to replace worn out dollars and to keep up with growth. Printing less than necessary causes deflation; printing more than necessary causes inflation. The Federal Reserve has been printing more dollars than necessary in order to buy Treasury Notes. Wall Street loves “QE” because they are set up to handle the changes and benefit the most from the “stimulus.” Other nations have been reluctant to buy U.S. debt. Those that trade with us have a vested interest in keeping the U.S. economy afloat - especially China (exports about $130B/yr to U.S.).

The dollar is strong currently – relative to other currencies - because many of our trading partners are in recession (shrinking economies) or have massive debt. Many nations want a new reserve currency like the IMF's Special Drawing Rights (SDR) based on 5 currencies (dollar, pound, euro, yen, yuan). The U.S. economy will collapse when the dollar is no longer the reserve currency. Many – Ron Paul in particular – want to have our dollars backed by gold again. This restrains the printing of money. Inflation works as a tax and hurts the poor and elderly the most.

It is not possible for the current leadership – Democrat or Republican – to pay off our massive debt ($16 Trillion in national debt and another $115 Trillion in unfunded promises). You must run a surplus in order to pay off debt. There is no prospect from either party to do that. Medicare will be bankrupt in less than ten years, and Social Security will be bankrupt soon after that. The “takers” will not allow politicians to fix this. They will vote against anyone who tries. Over 40,000,000 in the U.S. have student loans totaling over $1 Trillion. They will vote against anyone who tries to raise their costs and for anyone who forgives their debt.

Many believe that the federal government can fix all of our problems because they have done so in the past. The facts are that “trust funds” have been raided and the currency devalued to “fix” these problems in the past. Now the trust funds are empty, and borrowing (kicking the can down the road) is no longer an option. No one will loan us money. Reagan told us that “government is NOT the solution, it is the problem.”

The United States is too rich a country to die. We will go the way of Mexico in the 1990s: the old dollars will be exchanged for new dollars in a 1000:1 ratio. If you have $1 Million in savings, then you will get only $1,000. If you got $2,000/month from Social Security, then you will get only $1,000/month or less due to bankruptcy. Doctors will not see Medicare patients – only those with silver or gold or SDRs.

Creating an Environment of Indolence

In July 2012, according to the Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were still 12.8 million Americans unemployed. The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks and over) was little changed at 5.2 million. Another 8.2% were underemployed. The jobless rate for teenagers was 23.8% and for Asians was 6.2 % in July. The unemployment rate nationwide was 8.3%, but in North Dakota it was 3.0%; in South Dakota it was 3.8%; and in Nebraska it was 4%. In blue states like California it was 10.7%.

Employment in July increased the most in professional and business services, 49,000; leisure and hospitality, 29,000; manufacturing, 25,000; health care, 12,000; and computer systems design, 7,000. These changes in the types of employment were correctly predicted in Future Shock over 40 years ago.

The Obama administration is dismantling the welfare reform achieved by a Republican Congress and a Democrat President in 1996. The limit for unemployment compensation has been increased from 26 weeks to 99 weeks, and many then start receiving Social Security disability even though they are far from retirement age. The number of persons on food stamps stood at 46,224,722, a historic high, as of October, the most recent month on record. The government’s Lifeline Assistance Program gives out free cell phones and monthly service to 12.5 million Americans in need of financial help. The financially disadvantaged can receive a free government cell phone and up to 250 free minutes every month under the FCC's Lifeline Assistance Program. A recent video shows a girl who has more than a dozen. She explains that there is no check to determine need. She uses the extra phones to barter for money and drugs.

Over $1.25 Billion will be paid to minority groups who were “discriminated against” in USDA farm loans. The USDA has not kept records of loans that were declined, but blacks, women and Native American farmers have champions in Congress trying to pass appropriation bills.

Student debt is given without a credit check and without merit. Taxpayers are on the hook for over $1 Trillion. Over 40,000,000 borrowers owe us money. All are voting age.

Return of the Mahdi is Imminent

Two-thirds of a billion Muslims expect the Mahdi – the last Islamic imam they believe will come and rule the world – to arrive in their lifetimes. This expectation is most widespread in Afghanistan (83 percent), Iraq (72 percent), Tunisia (67 percent) and Malaysia (62 percent). Shi’as are more likely than Sunnis to expect the Mahdi to return in their lifetime, by an 88 percent to 55 percent margin.

Contrast of Political Visions

The visions of the Democrat and Republican parties are becoming clearer. The Democrat vision is that those in the United States are advantaged by the government and have/will become prosperous because of that. The Republican vision is that Americans “are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights” and that these rights and freedoms have enabled the United States to become the greatest nation on the planet. The former is a vision of dependency on government; the latter one of dependency on our Creator and self-reliance using the gifts that He provides.

Neither party is really for limited government although a handful of Congressmen may be. The Republican party has controlled the U.S. House of Representatives since January of 2011. The leadership has consistently caved to Democrat demands. Compare this to January 1995 when the Republicans took control of the Congress for the first time in 40 years (1955-1995). Ronald Reagan's accomplishments were notable because both the House and Senate were Democrat-controlled during both of his terms. Bill Clinton is held up as an example by the Democrats because he had budget surpluses in 1998-2001. With a Democrat-controlled Congress he had large deficits. Confrontation with Speaker Gingrich shut down the federal government twice before Clinton moderated his position. President Obama is seeking to undo laws like welfare reform which made the surpluses possible. He has ignored the Defense of Marriage Act (signed by Clinton) and the Immigration laws passed by a Democrat-controlled Congress and signed by Reagan in an amnesty compromise. The amnesty happened for millions of illegals; the enforcement did not. Now the President wants another amnesty. When the Republicans point out that the Democrats lied before and refuse, the President illegally grants the amnesty by Executive Order.

The federal government has formed a monopoly control of student debt. Over 40,000,000 voters now owe taxpayers over $1 Trillion. The interest rate was set to double from 3.4% to 6.8%. Congress is “working” to prevent that – especially in an election year.

Most Americans simply don't understand the math. It is not possible to service a $16 Trillion national debt and another $115 Trillion of unfunded obligations (Medicare, Social Security, pensions, disability, etc) with a $15 Trillion GDP. We somehow believe that we may fly first-class to Las Vegas, rent the most expensive suite, eat room-service food prepared by chefs, have parties etc. and put it all on credit cards for which we will only pay the minimum! How will the government save us then? The “safety net” programs have been so abused that soon there will be no money to fund them. If we pay $300 Billion each year for interest, then what if interest rates go from 1.6% to 10% (due to our poor credit rating and excessive printing of dollars) and interest rises to over $1Trillion/year! QE, QE2, QE3, etc confiscate the wealth of the “Makers” by devaluing the dollar, but eventually the “Takers” will suffer. Progressive-socialism will fail, because you eventually run out of other people's money!

Why Does Barry Hide His Past?

The President of the United States by Law must be a natural-born citizen of the United States. Barry Soetoro aka Barack Obama was not properly vetted before the election in 2008 – possibly because Democrats controlled both the House and the Senate. Now that he is President, Barry has immense power to prevent access to information which might disqualify him and prove fraud. Since most media is controlled by liberals, it is difficult to force the administration to release information.

Many have said that it is relatively easy to obtain a Certificate of Live Birth in the state of Hawaii whether you were born there or not. The forensic team in Phoenix has declared the released version a fraud. Barry's Occidental, Columbia and Harvard college records are sealed, not because he is sensitive about his grades, but the records may reveal that Barry was enrolled and got money as a foreign student! His relatives have said that he was born in Kenya. To attend Muslim schools in Indonesia, Barry could not be an American citizen.

Barry has lied to the American people many times. He controls the sources of information which move markets and re-elect Presidents – Energy, Labor, Health, Housing and Urban Development, Census (information is not released for 72 years; current release is 1940!), etc. Barry and his subordinates have access to it all, and can spin data as they please.

Letter to Nancy Pelosi

Dear Ms. Pelosi: I write to you out of utter disdain! You are as despicable and un-American as the traitor Jane Fonda.

I am a soon to be 65 year-old who has voted in every state and local election since 1966. I have voted for both Republicans and Democrats alike. I have worked on campaigns for both Republicans and Democrats, white and black. I served the country that I love in Vietnam, as my son did in the Middle East. I was awarded two bronze stars. I have been involved in politics since age 6 when my father was campaign manager for a truly great American Congressman, Charles Raper Jonas, who worked for his constituents and his country, and was to be admired, unlike you.

You obviously haven't read the Constitution recently, if ever; the Federalist Papers; or even David McCullough's book on John Adams. You ought to take the time while riding around in your government provided luxury executive jet to do just that. You represent Socialistic and even Marxist principals that our founding fathers tried to avoid when setting out the capitalistic republican form of government represented by our Constitution.

I find it interesting that you and your husband are multi-millionaires with much of your fortune being made as a result of your public service. You have controlled legislation that has enhanced your husbands investments both on and off shore. At the same time you redistributed the wealth of others. Our system of a free market economy is being destroyed by the likes of you, Harry Reid, and now our President. You ride around in a Gulfstream airplane at the tax payers expense while criticizing the presidents of companies who produced something for the economy. You add nothing to the economy of the United States ; you only subtract therefrom.

I would like to suggest that you return to the city of fruitcakes and nuts and eat your husbands’ canned tuna and pineapple produced by illegal immigrants and by workers who have been excluded from the protection that 90% of the legal workers in the United States have.

I await your defeat in the next election with glee...

VEEPstakes Criteria by Sean Trende

1) Socially conservative: Romney’s pick will almost certainly have to tick this box. Social conservatism tends to be a requirement for winning the Republican nomination, but given Romney’s questionable conservative history on social issues, it is probably especially important to him. Given his late flip-flop on abortion, I’ve given pro-choice picks a negative one, as such a selection would probably invite an outright rebellion at the convention.

2) Not scary: At the same time, Romney has to avoid choosing a running mate whose social conservatism would become a lightning rod, and tend to dominate the debate. There are years where a fight over social issues helps the GOP, but this probably isn’t one of them.

3) Swing state: VP selections probably aren’t worth more than a point or two in a given state. That said, in a close election (which most expect this one to be), a point or two can make a big difference.

4) Swing demographic: Similar to swing state -- if a candidate can appeal to a critical swing constituency, especially one disproportionately represented in a key swing state, it can move the dial enough to make a difference. Simply put, if Al Gore hadn’t picked Joe Lieberman as his running mate, Florida probably would not have gone down to a recount.

5) Governor: One of the best things that Romney has going for him is that he hasn’t been in Washington the past few years. Picking someone else from outside the Beltway would be a plus for him. Moreover, “competent executive” is one of Romney’s campaign themes; picking another executive reinforces this argument.

6) No Bush connections: At the same time, Romney doesn’t want to play directly into the Democrats’ arguments. Nothing will be repeated more often than the assertion that electing Romney would mean a return to the policies of George W. Bush. Picking someone who served in Bush’s administration would only reinforce that line of attack.

7) Adequate experience: Call this the “Palin issue.” Romney will want someone who is ready for prime time, and who preferably has served at least a full term in office.

8) “First do no harm”: To be sure, every vice presidential pick opens up new lines of attack, as no politician is without his or her warts. At the same time, some attacks hurt more than others, some politicians would overshadow Romney, and some politicians are particularly gaffe-prone.

9) Excites the base: Romney doesn’t exactly excite conservatives; he’s largely relying upon discontent with President Obama to turn out the base. A vice president who excites the base in the way Palin did in ’08 (without the negatives) would be a substantial asset.

10) Loyalty: All politicians appreciate this trait and want to reward it. This isn’t a year like 1980 for the Republicans or 1960 for the Democrats, where there are obvious benefits to selecting an opponent from a different wing of the party in order to promote party unity or to seek regional advantage. Romney will prefer someone who has been a “Romney guy” all along; I gave credit to anyone who endorsed Romney before February.

Gov. Tim Pawlenty was given a 9 out of 10. The Minnesota governor is socially conservative, without any unusually socially conservative views; he’s from a state that has moved steadily toward the Republicans over the past few decades; and he connects with the coveted blue-collar white demographic. He’s an experienced governor with no significant Bush ties, and he endorsed Romney early on. However, he doesn't excite the base. Second place had 7 out of 10.

Free-market vs Progressive-socialist Theory

The election in November will contrast two very different economic theories – free-market and progressive-socialism. The latter is a combination of progressiveism - in which “elites” seek to control all aspects of the economy – and socialism which does the same except the state actually owns most of the economy. What we now have in America is a combination since the state actually owns much of GM and most of AIG and controls much of the economy through bailouts, subsidies and fiscal policy. Free-market theory puts the “control” with the buyers and sellers with minimum government control. It states that a centrally-planned economy – even with the most capable managers using the most powerful computers – cannot efficiently control the billions of transactions which occur each day.

We have experienced progressiveism and seen the results. The national income tax and the Federal Reserve were created in 1913 under progressive administrations. Progressives need these to “level the playing field” - and significantly grow government and transfer wealth. The income tax was “passed” when voters were told that only the “rich” would pay it. The Federal Reserve was created to fulfill a short list of enumerated functions. Both together allowed an almost limitless increase in the size of government. In 1933, FDR and a Democrat-controlled Congress passed the National Industrial Recovery Act. The blue eagle was the symbol of compliance and posters were only allowed in the windows of businesses which accepted NIRA cost controls and other provisions. The government actively discouraged doing business with non-blue-eagle businesses. The Supreme Court declared the NIRA unconstitutional in 1935. By 1937, FDR was fed up with the Supreme Court and threatened to “pack the Court.” The Court backed down and became more accepting of progressive legislation.

The Great Recession that we are currently experiencing is due to massive government intervention. Each President for decades has pushed the American dream of owning a home. Attorney Generals threatened discrimination suits if loans were not granted. Congress made the legal environment lax and provided minimal oversight. The Federal Reserve kept interest rates too low with an “exuberant monetary policy.” The “greedy Wall Street bankers” took advantage of lax restraints, and created incredibly dangerous and unregulated financial instruments. When the bubble burst, the “boys from Goldman-Sachs” (Paulson/Geithner) covered Wall Street losses 100 cents-on-the-dollar with taxpayer money. Obama ignored centuries of bankrupcy law and gave the unions billions. Few – except for Ponzi-scheme crooks – went to jail. Like Boesky of the mid-1980s (Gordon Gekko character in the Wall Street movie), they retired to their villas in France or elsewhere.

History is on the side of free-market theory. If we ignore history, then we condemn ourselves to repeat the mistakes!

FOURTH He has surrounded himself with naive academicians, lawyers, politicians, bureaucrats, and socialist leaning czars who arrogantly think and behave exactly as he does. People who offer no balanced suggestions or devils advocate positions, and think in lock step with him that big government is the answer to all our problems.

FIFTH He not only encourages, but aids and abets the unionization of all American industry, the albatross around the neck of the free market. In turn, they provide the money and muscle to intimidate his opponents.

SIXTH He has increased the national debt by over 30% in just three years. If re-elected, and this rate of increase continues, America will be burdened with an unsustainable 20 trillion dollar debt which will result in the country's financial death. Recovery will be impossible - - America will be the Greece of 2016.

SEVENTH Given his fanatical beholding to the 'environmental' and 'man-caused global warming' fringe, he has deliberately discouraged U.S. fossil fuel exploration and production, while wasting billions of tax payer dollars on solar, wind, and algae experiments. He refuses to accept that oil, gas, and coal are not America's enemies, they are America's assets - - which, properly managed, could make us energy independent within a generation.

EIGHTH He views the U.S. as a power in retreat which abused its World dominance. Therefore he systematically apologizes round the world. This past March, he whispered to Russian President Medvedev - - "This is my last election. After my election, I will have more flexibility". Just what is the secret that Obama and Putin are concealing from the American people until after the election ?? With what other leaders has he made similar secret agreements??

NINTH And finally, after all his mis-steps, bad decision making, poor management, and zero leadership, the fact that he has the audacity to seek re-election should terrify every American.

I predict that if re-elected, future historians and political interpreters will look back at the eight year period 2008-2016, and conclude "the 44th President of the U.S. allowed the takers to overpower the payers, which resulted in the greatest economy in history vanishing from the face of the Earth". Farewell America, the World will really miss you !!"

PPACA and Other Lies!

As Rep. Joe Wilson (SC-2) so succinctly put it: “You lie!” Now the Chief Justice and 3 liberal Justices and one moderate Justice of the SCOTUS have said that PPACA is a tax. The President and his Democrat cohorts repeated over and over that it was not a tax. They lied! They deceived the American people in order to get the bill passed. The top interpreters of the Constitution said that justification with the commerce clause would be unConstitutional. Being an “expert”, Obama might have known that, but admitting it as a tax during the Great Recession would doom it.

Is it any surprise that business has been reluctant to add/create jobs with the “largest tax increase in history” facing them? Between COBRA/EMTALA (free emergency treatment for everyone, legal or not) and PPACA and the fact that the United States does not enforce its immigration laws, America should be a giant magnet for foreigners who want part of the largess of Progressive-Socialism.

Everyone is looking to the 6 November election even though ex-ACORN people will be out in force to vote for the dead (life-challenged), and the tabulations will be done by a Spanish company – after being bailed out/funded by the US Export/Import Bank, the Federal Reserve, the IMF and the World Bank. The IMF decision will be made by a French woman. France elected a Socialist. The French love Obama's policies!

Limbaugh v. Roberts et al

Hey, folks, have you seen the economic news today? Have you heard about the unemployment numbers today? (laughing) Gross domestic product, have you heard about any of that? Because I have it here, and it sucks. It’s a disaster. The economy of this country remains a disaster. And we, the American people, have just been deceived in ways that nobody contemplated. And what we now have is the biggest tax increase in the history of the world. What we have been told by the chief justice of the Supreme Court and four liberals on the court: Obamacare is just a massive tax increase. That’s all it is. Obama lied to us about that. The Democrats lied. “It wasn’t a tax. There was no way it was a tax.”

The chief justice was hell-bent to find a way to make this law applicable, so he just decided, you know what, as a tax increase, it works, because there’s no limit on the federal government’s ability to tax. And it’s right there in the preamble of the Constitution, right there, Article 1, Section 8, the general welfare clause, it’s been established Congress can tax whatever, whoever, whenever, how much they want. Even when they don’t ask for it, the Supreme Court is gonna find a way to make what they want to do legal because John Roberts said it’s not our job here to forbid this. It’s not our job to protect people from outcomes. It’s not our job to determine whether it is right or wrong or any of that. We just get to look at it. We can’t forbid this. This is what the elected representatives of the people want.

ARIZONA v. UNITED STATES

Today’s opinion deprives States of what most would consider the defining characteristic of sovereignty: the power to exclude from the sovereign’s territory people who have no right to be there. Neither the Constitution itself nor even any law passed by Congress supports this result. I dissent.

As a sovereign, Arizona has the inherent power to exclude persons from its territory, subject only to those limitations expressed in the Constitution or constitutionally imposed by Congress. That power to exclude has longbeen recognized as inherent in sovereignty. The ruling protects "the federal government's prerogative to set and enforce immigration policy or, in this case, not to enforce immigration policy."

The Democrat-controlled Congress passed COBRA/EMTALA in 1986 forcing emergency treatment facilities (ETF) to treat anyone who came through their doors. This unfunded mandate has forced the closure of many ETFs. President Reagan compromised on this and amnesty for illegal aliens, because he got solid enforcement laws which would prevent a reoccurence of the problems. Unfortunately these laws were not enforced. The states are also having to educate and provide services for illegals at their own expense.

Sweden Goes More Free-Market

Swedish economist Anders Aslund describes the radical change. "Americans still think of Sweden as a tightly regulated social-welfare state, but in the last two decades the country has been reformed. Public spending has fallen by no less than one-fifth of gross domestic product, taxes have dropped and markets have opened up....

"Sweden’s traditional scourge is taxes, which used to be the highest in the world. The current government has cut them every year and abolished wealth taxes. Inheritance and gift taxes are also gone. Until 1990, the maximum marginal income tax rate was 90 percent. Today, it is 56.5 percent. That is still one of the world’s highest, after Belgium’s 59.4 and there is strong public support for a cut to 50 percent.

"The 26 percent tax on corporate profits may seem reasonable from an American perspective, but Swedish business leaders want to reduce it to 20 percent. Tax competition is fierce in some parts of Europe. Most East European countries, for example, have slashed corporate taxes to 15-19 percent.

"In the bad old days, the annual centralized-wage bargaining between the Trade Union Confederation and the Swedish Employers’ Confederation was a prized custom. But in the 1970s, this system led to both inflation and strikes. Today, it is long gone. Wage bargaining is still collective, but it is decentralized. Wage inflation is no longer a concern and strikes are extremely rare. The employers have won, but real wages are rising with productivity, so the workers are benefiting, as well. As everywhere, trade unions are losing members, money and power. "

Will Someone Vet the Candidates?

I am not a “birther”, but I am skeptical of public officials – even a POTUS – who refuse to release information which can be used to vet them.

As a candidate in 2008, the Democrat-controlled Congress did not properly vet the Democrat candidate. The Certificate of Live Birth on Snopes.com has been declared a forgery by a forensic team in Maricopa County Arizona. College transcripts – which may list Barry Soetoro as a foreign student - are withheld.

I am against the policies of the POTUS because many are unConstitutional – illegal – and will destroy the “rule of law” and eventually the United States of America. Obama shows disdain for the Constitution, the Supreme Court and the Congress. He fires Inspector Generals who criticize his or his apointees' actions. I also believe that the wealth of the United States has come from our free-market economy. A Progressive-Socialist government which controls all aspects of the economy and owns some (GM, AIG, etc.) will fail as others have.

The Fair Tax and The Lies Opponents Tell

If you pay taxes, then you try to minimize your taxable income for income taxes or your assessed value for property taxes. This is counterproductive to a growth economy, and also leads to an underground economy and much fraud. The Fair Tax taxes consumption. With a Fair Tax, frugality is rewarded.

There are many half-lies about the Fair Tax – the most prevalent is omitting a discussion of the prebate. Most detractors tell you that it is a regressive tax which will hurt the poor and elderly the most. The prebate corrects that such that all truly poor and low-income elderly will pay no tax at all. The prebate refunds the sales tax up front up to the poverty line. Another lie is that the Fair Tax adds another tax onto existing taxes. The Fair Tax repeals the 16th Amendment, replaces Federal payroll taxes - including F.I.C.A. Social Security and Medicare taxes – and ends capital gains taxes and inheritance taxes. If you live in one of the states with no income tax, then you will get 100% of your pay on payday. The Fair Tax is also “progressive”. The person who spends only $1,000 will pay only $230 (and get it back with the prebate) and the person who spends $1,000,000 will pay $230,000. So the “rich” who the United States has “rewarded” more will have to pay more.

Many who criticize the Fair Tax – even commentators - have never read The Fair Tax or its sequel. In both these books the authors counter arguments brought up against the Fair Tax while explaining how it works.

If you still dislike the Fair Tax, then keep paying taxes every payday; keep up with changes to the 77,000-page tax code – or pay someone else to -, keep accurate records and worry about IRS audits.

Just for fun, Google “16th Ratification”, and read about Philander Knox commiting fraud by certifying the 16th Amendment as ratified although less than ½ of the states legally approved rather than the ¾ required.

Capital and Jobs Require Carbon-Based Energy

Suppose that I want to start a business. I will need to buy land for my widget factory, get permits and pay fees, pay for the construction, buy the machines to make widgets and hire competent workers and train them to make the widgets. I will need to advertize my widgets for sale. All of this takes capital – generally money – to accomplish. I can provide the capital myself if I am wealthy, or I can get capital from others – by borrowing, partnering or by incorporating and selling stock. This process creates jobs for myself and others.

Our government has turned its back on carbon-based fuel – which we have in abundance – and has used our money (capital) to stimulate “alternative energy.” These energy sources have been around for many decades and sometimes centuries. The high energy content of carbon-based fuel and relative cost has made it the vast majority source for energy use.

It is wood and coal that heated early homes. It is coal that provided energy for our steel industry. It is natural gas that heats and cools our homes, makes our electricity – along with coal, water and nuclear – and powers a growing number of vehicles. Natural gas is also used to make fertilizer and plastics. Gasoline and diesel fuel still power 95% of our vehicles.

We have been importing about 9 million barrels of oil each day at about $100/barrel. This is capital that has been producing jobs for other countries instead of Americans. This is great for OPEC, but bad for us. Fortunately we have reduced our imported fuels, and the price of oil has decreased. However massive tax increases face us in 2013 if the government's fiscal policy is not changed. Inflation is inevitable because the Federal Reserve has been printing more dollars than necessary (in order to buy debt – Treasury IOUs – that few want).

What about pollution? The most prevalent greenhouse gas – by far – is water vapor. This is produced when our Sun heats water (oceans, lakes, rivers, etc.). This is part of the “water cycle” that we studied in Physical Science. Carbon dioxide is produced by exhaling. Plants take in the carbon dioxide and “exhale” oxygen. If this cycle didn't work, then mankind would have died out long ago. Our ancestors had little regard for conservation and cut trees for log cabins and fuel. Our atmosphere is much cleaner – even with a much larger population - now that we have realized the consequences. We still harvest trees, but we replant 100 for each 1 that we use.

If we will continue as the planet's greatest nation, then we will have to use the great natural resources that we have been given. Placing moratoriums on oil production while loaning $2 billion to Petrobras through the Export/Import Bank, lengthening the permitting process for drilling and placing our land off-limits for developing and production helps OPEC – not us! Placing unreasonable regulations on carbon-based fuel producers helps OPEC – not us!

If creating jobs for Americans is really important, then stop subsidizing OPEC and keep the capital we send them each day and use it to create American businesses that provide Americans with jobs!

Conservatism Texas Style

Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.

Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we'll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats and piercings, then get a job.

Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your "home" will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good.”

Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules. Before you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin their "self-esteem," consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self-esteem.

If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

AND While you are on Government subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes that is correct; for you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Government welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.

The Fallacy of Taxing the Rich

As Facebook goes public, Eduardo Saverin, a co-founder, has renounced his citizenship and will live in Singapore. He will avoid $67M in U.S. taxes since Singapore does not tax capital gains. Sen, Chuck Schumer (D,NY) is trying to force him to pay U.S. taxes. The State of New York is suing Derek Jeter because he has claimed Florida as his state of residence while playing for the New York Yankee baseball team. Florida has no state income tax, and other taxes are lower than New York.

These examples show the flaw in the “tax the rich” mantra. The rich can buy a first-class airline ticket to anywhere in the world and run their businesses by Internet while they have lawyers handle interactions with the government. Warren Buffet's wealth is mostly in Berkshire-Hathaway stock. Any time he needs some pocket money, he can sell a share of BRK.A for $120,850. He will pay 15% on the capital gain (selling price – cost basis). Since Berkshire-Hathaway has paid income taxes at 30%, the cash that Buffet receives has been taxed at 30%+15%=45%. This is probably more than the tax rate paid by his secretary. In his speeches Obama has claimed that Buffet pays a lower tax rate than his secretary, but then later claims that he pays less in taxes than his secretary – an obvious lie, but good for dramatic effect.

The same tax avoidance process occurs at the state level. California has a huge deficit, encourages abortions and allows sodomy. Texas has much better finances, has implemented tort reform and has much more conservative social laws. Americans living in California (or NY, IL, etc) can move to Texas. Many physicians have moved to Texas because of no state income tax and lower malpractice insurance costs. The practice of moving from one state to another even has its own phrase, “voting with your feet.” Folks in the CSRA do this to a lesser extent when Georgians fill their gas tanks in South Carolina.

This all may sound un-patriotic to some, but I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. The Constitution is the Law. If our Federal Government ceases to follow immigration and defense of marriage laws and continues to enact un-Constitutional laws (like NIRA, 1933 and PPACA, 2009), then it has exposed itself as a domestic enemy. I would list Social Security, a forced ponzi scheme, and Medicare, but these have been popular although un-Constitutional.

Many big-government politicians talk about the United States as a democracy. It is not. It is a constitutional republic where our representatives are democratically elected. Since 47% of our “population” pay no income taxes, and 70% receive a payment from taxpayers, we are well on our way to “democracy fails when people realize they can write checks to themselves.”

Income Tax Improperly Ratified?

HOW SOME STATES DID NOT LEGALLY RATIFY THE 16TH AMENDMENT

Bill Benson's findings, published in "The Law That Never Was," make a convincing case that the 16th amendment was not legally ratified and that Secretary of State Philander Knox was not merely in error, but committed fraud when he declared it ratified in February 1913. What follows is a summary of some of the major findings for many of the states, showing that their ratifications were not legal and should not have been counted. The 16th amendment had been sent out in 1909 to the state governors for ratification by the state legislatures after having been passed by Congress. There were 48 states at that time, and three-fourths, or 36, of them were required to give their approval in order for it to be ratified. The process took almost the whole term of the Taft administration, from 1909 to 1913.

Knox had received responses from 42 states when he declared the 16th amendment ratified on February 25, 1913, just a few days before leaving office to make way for the administration of Woodrow Wilson. Knox acknowledged that four of those states (Utah, Conn, R.I. and N.H.) had rejected it, and he counted 38 states as having approved it. We will now examine some of the key evidence Bill Benson found regarding the approval of the amendment in many of those states.

In Kentucky, the legislature acted on the amendment without even having received it from the governor (the governor of each state was to transmit the proposed amendment to the state legislature). The version of the amendment that the Kentucky legislature made up and acted upon omitted the words "on income" from the text, so they weren't even voting on an income tax! When they straightened that out (with the help of the governor), the Kentucky senate rejected the amendment. Yet Philander Knox counted Kentucky as approving it! In Oklahoma, the legislature changed the wording of the amendment so that its meaning was virtually the opposite of what was intended by Congress, and this was the version they sent back to Knox. Yet Knox counted Oklahoma as approving it, despite a memo from his chief legal counsel, Reuben Clark, that states were not allowed to change it in any way.

Attorneys who have studied the subject have agreed that Kentucky and Oklahoma should not have been counted as approvals by Philander Knox, and, moreover, if any state could be shown to have violated its own state constitution or laws in its approval process, then that state's approval would have to be thrown out. That gets us past the "presumptive conclusion" argument, which says that the actions of an executive official cannot be judged by a court, and admits that Knox could be wrong.

If we subtract Kentucky and Oklahoma from the 38 approvals above, the count of valid approvals falls to 36, the exact number needed for ratification. If any more states can be shown to have had invalid approvals, the 16th amendment must be regarded as null and void.

The state constitution of Tennessee prohibited the state legislature from acting on any proposed amendment to the U.S. Constitution sent by Congress until after the next election of state legislators. The intent, of course, is to give the proposed amendment a chance to become an issue in the state legislative elections so that the people can have a voice in determining the outcome. It also provides a cooling off period to reduce the tendency to approve an idea just because it happens to be the moment's trend. You've probably already guessed that the Tennessee legislature did not hold off on voting for the amendment until after the next election, and you'd be right - they didn't; hence, they acted upon it illegally before they were authorized to do so. They also violated their own state constitution by failing to read the resolution on three different days as prescribed by Article II, Section 18. These state constitutional violations make their approval of the amendment null and void. Their approval is and was invalid, and it brings the number of approving states down to 35, one less than required for ratification.

Texas and Louisiana violated provisions in their state constitutions prohibiting the legislatures from empowering the federal government with any additional taxing authority. Now the number is down to 33. Twelve other states, besides Tennessee, violated provisions in their constitutions requiring that a bill be read on three different days before voting on it. This is not a trivial requirement. It allows for a cooling off period; it enables members who may be absent one day to be present on another; it allows for a better familiarity with, and understanding of, the measure under consideration, since some members may not always read a bill or resolution before voting on it (believe it or not!). States violating this procedure were: Mississippi, Ohio, Arkansas, Minnesota, New Mexico, West Virginia, Indiana, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Colorado, and Illinois. Now the number is reduced to 21 states legally ratifying the amendment.

When Secretary Knox transmitted the proposed amendment to the states, official certified and sealed copies were sent. Likewise, when state results were returned to Knox, it was required that the documents, including the resolution that was actually approved, be properly certified, signed, and sealed by the appropriate official(s). This is no more than any ordinary citizen has to do in filing any legal document, so that it's authenticity is assured; otherwise it is not acceptable and is meaningless. How much more important it is to authenticate a constitutional amendment! Yet a number of states did not do this, returning uncertified, unsigned, and/or unsealed copies, and did not rectify their negligence even after being reminded and warned by Knox. The most egregious offenders were Ohio, California, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Minnesota - which did not send any copy at all, so Knox could not have known what they even voted on! Since four of these states were already disqualified above, California is now subtracted from the list of valid approvals, reducing it to 20.

These last five states, along with Kentucky and Oklahoma, have particularly strong implications with regard to the fraud charge against Knox, in that he cannot be excused for not knowing they shouldn't have been counted. Why was he in such a hurry? Why did he not demand that they send proper documentation? They never did. Further review would make the list dwindle down much more, but with the number down to 20, sixteen fewer than required, this is a suitable place to rest, without getting into the matter of several states whose constitutions limited the taxing authority of their legislatures, which could not give to the federal govern authority they did not have.

The results from the six states Knox had not heard from at the time he made his proclamation do not affect the conclusion that the amendment was not legally ratified. Of those six: two (Virginia and Pennsylvania) he never did hear from, because they ignored the proposed amendment; Florida rejected it; two others (Vermont and Massachusetts) had rejected it much earlier by recorded votes, but, strangely, submitted to the Secretary within a few days of his ratification proclamation that they had passed it (without recorded votes); West Virginia had purportedly approved it at the end of January 1913, but its notification had not yet been received (remember that West Virginia had violated its own constitution, as noted above).

Obama Takes More Control by Executive Order

On March 16th, President Obama signed a new Executive Order
which expands upon a prior order issued in 1950 for Disaster
Preparedness, and gives the office of the President complete
control over all the resources in the United States in times
of war or emergency.

The National Defense Resources Preparedness order gives the
Executive Branch the power to control and allocate energy,
production, transportation, food, and even water resources
by decree under the auspices of national defense and national
security. The order is not limited to wartime implementation,
as one of the order’s functions includes the command and
control of resources in peacetime determinations.

The Politics of Wealth Envy

A “progressive” daughter, Jane, was criticizing her
conservative father for being insensitive to the wealth
gap in America which is discussed so much by the
Progressives and liberal media.

The father asked about how she was doing in school. She
responded that she was doing well and had a GPA of 3.8.
He then asked about her friend Sue. Jane responded that
Sue was failing school and had a GPA of only 1.8. The
father asked why Jane didn't have 1 unit of her GPA
transferred to Sue so they would both have a 2.8 GPA.

Jane was incredulous, stating that she had worked very
hard to get her 3.8 GPA while Sue was a party girl and
hardly ever studied.

The wise father told her that she was becoming more conservative every day.

I Still Like Mike Huckabee!

1) I’d issue an Executive Order that grants Obamacare
waivers to all 50 states. I’d then go to the House and
Senate Republican leadership and ask them to submit
full repeal legislation.

2) I’d approve the Keystone Pipeline.

3) I’d ask the House and Senate to submit FairTax
legislation and guarantee a vote in both chambers within
100 days. There is no better way to unshackle our economy
then to pass the FairTax.

4) I’d ask Congress to submit and pass a Balanced Budget
amendment to the Constitution. I’d then promise to travel
to all 50 states to fight for its passage in each
legislature.

5) I’d hold a conference call with the four border
Governors with Mexico and ask them to submit a
comprehensive list within 24 hours of what they need to
secure their border and I would go a step further and
guarantee the federal government complete the job within
that time period.

Eugenics Has Evolved

While many in the scientific community have believed
the evolution idea; the idea is not science. The
scientific method cannot be applied to the evolution idea
since no observers lived at the “beginning” nor long
enough to see one kind becoming another; and no hypothesis
can be tested. There are no facts; only speculation – and
much fraud. A finch which becomes a “new species” is
still a bird. A scientific theory is a product of the
scientific method: gather data, form a hypothesis, test
the hypothesis, independently test and peer review the
tests and continue to test and evaluate as a theory. A
theory is a useful explanation of the observed facts.

Note that the scientific “theory” that the Sun and planets
rotate around the Earth has been disproved. As late as the
fifteenth century the Earth was believed flat even though
mathematicians had accurately calculated its circumference
by the third century B.C. Scientists - and politicians –
blamed global warming for the severe hurricanes in 2005,
but had no answer for the quiet seasons since then. The
major greenhouse gas is water vapor, but since politicians
have not figured out how to tax the Sun for warming the
seas, carbon dioxide is substituted as the villain.

Early in the 20th century the supposed mechanism of
evolution, survival of the fittest, encouraged eugenicists
to try to improve the human species by sterilizing hundreds
of thousands of less desirable Americans. Hitler was
condemned for his practices, but the same idea was put into
practice in the United States and Great Britain before
Hitler came to power. Since then the “science” of eugenics
has become “genetic engineering.” Murders by Hitler and
Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, have been
replaced by isolating and replacing problematic genes with
desirable genes. Planned Parenthood still seeks to prevent
pregnancy among the inferior and kill the baby if prevention
fails. The black percentage of abortions is a disproportionate
percentage compared to the black share of the child-bearing
population.

Know the Constitution!

Many – if not most – Americans are ignorant of the United
States Constitution. That is tragic since it is the Law.
If another law is written but differs with the Constitution,
then it does not exist. It is void. If the President
issues an Executive Order doubling the pay of employees in
the Executive, then it is an illegal order. The President
may hire high-level employees without the consent of the
Senate, but if the Law requires consent, then they are not
employees; need not be paid; and any actions which they
take are void. If a person becomes President who is not a
natural born citizen, then all actions that he takes as
President are void.
Many – if not most – Americans believe that any baby born in
the United States is by Law an American citizen. That is
false. The 14th Amendment states: “All persons born or
naturalized in the United States, and subject to the
jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and
of the state wherein they reside.” A diplomat to the United
Nations who is in New York with his wife has “diplomatic
immunity” for himself and his wife. If she gives birth,
then she - and now her child - were NOT subject to the
jurisdiction of New York nor the United States. Similarly
in 1868 when the 14th Amendment was ratified, an Indian
living on a reservation and subject to tribal law, would not
become a citizen of the United States. The purpose of the
14th Amendment was to grant citizenship to slaves and their
children. To take a phrase out of the context and enforce
it is illegal. Criminals should not euphemistically be
called “undocumented aliens”; they are criminals. They are
also not entitled to the Constitutional rights of citizens.
Consider Paul being chained by Roman soldiers in Acts 22 and
23. Paul asks: “Is it legal for you to lash a man who is a
Roman citizen without a proper trial?” and “the commanding
officer was frightened when he realized that Paul was a
Roman citizen and that he had had him tied up.”
Consider a Federal bureaucracy – the Internal Revenue
Service. The 16th Amendment gives Congress the “power to
lay and collect taxes on incomes.” Only the Congress may
make the rules. Any of the 92,000 pages of IRS code which
has not been passed by Congress is void.
Similar bureaucracies have been created for business
regulation with Sarbannes-Oxley; for health care regulation
with Obamacare; and for banking regulation with Dodd-Frank.
The problems which these bureaucracies seek to regulate were
caused by bad laws passed by Congress. The people who wrote
the enforcement laws were also the “lawmakers” who wrote the
original “ bad laws” which were abused [legally]. To
continue as a nation with a Constitutional rule of law, we
the people need to re-institute our authority.
